Counselors will receive a paycheck at
the end of each term. We also pay an additional $100
to our counselors for pre-camp orientation. Cash advances
are available should you need to take money out of your
account at any time during camp. The following is an
estimate of the wages counselors earn per week during
the summer. Wages may vary depending upon the tenure
of the counselor as well as the staff position they
hold.
- 1st Year Counselors-$170/week
- 2nd Year Counselors-$185/week
- 3rd Year Counselors-$195/week
Time
Off
Our time off policy is based on our philosophy…we
are a relational camp. We spend the majority of our
time at camp with our campers. During a two-week term,
each counselor will receive one 24-hour period off (also
known as a Selah) and during a three-week term, each
counselor will receive two. Additional time will be
given to counselors both during the day and at night
throughout the term where they will have time to spend
together in fellowship, check e-mail, return phone calls,
and most importantly, relax.
Visitors
You are more than welcome to have a friend or family
member visit you while you are here at camp. In fact,
we would love to meet them! Make sure to arrange it
with a full-time staff member first in order to make
sure your guest visits at an appropriate time. All guests
are required to check-in upon arrival and obtain a guest
pass.
Phones and E-mail
If a friend or family member needs to get a hold of
you, they may leave a message in our camp office and
in return, one of our staff members will leave you a
message in your mailbox. During your time off, you can
call friends or family using a calling card or by calling
collect. You will have access to a phone in the counselor
lounge. Please have them call you at: 830-693-2267.
We know that in this day and age e-mail is a major way
of communication. Therefore, we do offer limited e-mail
access during time off in our counselor lounge. Please
keep in mind that most camps do not allow the use of
phones, much less e-mail. Be respectful of your peers
during time off. Keep an eye on how much time you are
online or talking on the phone. Please limit your time.
Laundry
Every Sunday, a laundry service picks up clothes at
camp. You can send your clothes with this company and
they will have them returned a day or two later. Another
option is the local Laundromat in town (highly recommended
by staff). Friends, Fellowship, and Laundry…what
more could you ask for?
Medical Needs
We will have worker’s insurance provided by camp
that offers doctor’s visits to you for work related
illnesses and/or injuries at no cost to you.
